A Day in the Life of Alberto Mastrangelo

Along with his wife Michelle, Alberto Mastrangelo has created two of the South Coast’s most popular restaurants—Epiphany and Sesto Senso. His innovation is behind the evolving menus that keep customers coming back and his dedication to details ensures the restaurants’ atmospheres match the same high standards as the food. The successful restaurateur shared with Tinta Latina his typical day, giving insight to his success.

My wake up time varies every morning, as this is one of the luxuries of owning your own businesses. You work 24 hours a day, but create your own schedule. When I first wake up I look forward to my daughter’s kisses and I know it will be a good day. My wife and my daughter are the two most important reasons why I wake up every morning.

I head out to Starbucks in Montecito for my six shots of espresso and pastry. And then I’m off to the beach to enjoy the view and begin to schedule my day.

Lately I have been consumed with our newest venture in Montecito Sesto Senso and letting our community know where we are and what we have to offer and taking care of daily details. I am now in the midst of construction for the Burger Place, which will be the latest addition to our growing family.

I usually end every day at Sesto Senso with my favorite glass of wine, friends and, of course, a cigar. Then it is home to my beautiful two girls in the same way I started the day.

Me despierto a diferente hora cada mañana, este es uno de los lujos de ser dueño de tu propio negocio. Trabajas 24 horas al día pero pones tu propio horario. Cuando me despierto espero los besos de mi hija y sé que va ser un buen día. Mi esposa y mi hija son las dos razones más importantes por las que me despierto cada mañana.

Voy a Starbucks en Montecito por mis seis tasas de expreso y un pan dulce. Y de allí me voy a la playa a disfrutar la vista y empezar a programar mi día.

Últimamente me consume nuestra nueva operación en Montecito, Sesto Senso y el dejarle saber a nuestra comunidad dónde estamos y qué es lo que tenemos que ofrecerles y atender los detalles diarios. Ahora estoy en medio de la construcción del Burger Place, que va a ser la adición más nueva a nuestra familia que está plan de crecimiento.

Generalmente termino cada día en Sesto Senso con mi copa de vino favorito, amigos y, desde luego, un puro. Luego a casa para estar con mis dos bellas niñas y terminar el día de la misma manera en que lo empecé.
